Driving and Mobility Centre (West of England) has an exciting opportunity for an Approved Driving Instructor to join our Team of Specialist Driving Assessors. This is being offered as an initial part time role with scope for increased hours to a full time position. The successful candidate will predominantly provide assessments from our Bristol
Centre. On occasions, this role may also be required to provide assessments at our outreach Centres and for holiday cover. Driving Assessments are conducted using our own fleet of standard and adapted vehicles with dual controls.
As an accredited member of Driving Mobility, we are a successful, forward thinking and established organisation. You will deliver Driving Assessments to clients with a diverse range of medical conditions. Working as part of an assessment team, together with an Occupational Therapist, you will follow an assessment structure in order to form a recommendation to inform the client, DVLA and Health Professionals. As a Driving Advisor you must be able to work on your own initiative in a busy environment. The ability to multi- task and demonstrate exceptional organisational skills are essential. You will liaise regularly with the Driving and Mobility Centre administration team to ensure referrals are processed accurately, assessments are delivered effectively, and quality reports are generated. The successful candidate will have good educational standards and must be able to use Microsoft software packages. You will need to have a good telephone manner and customer relationship skills as dealing with clients both face-to-face and over the telephone is an integral part of this role.
The successful candidate must be a registered DVSA Approved Driving Instructor of Grade B or equivalent. The Candidate will have 3 years’ post-qualification experience and have been recently teaching using a dual controlled vehicle.
Previous experience of working with clients with medical conditions and vehicle adaptations is desirable, but not essential.
