Occupational Therapist/Clinician (Driving and Mobility Assessor) 

The Driving and Mobility Centre (West of England) is seeking to recruit an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist or suitably qualified Clinician on a permanent part-time basis for up to 30hrs per week to join our experienced assessment team providing services from our Bristol and outreach Centres in Somerset and Dorset. Where desirable there is also potential for collaboratively working in partnership with the Southampton Centre to create a full-time position. The post is available to commence with immediate effect, subject to satisfactory references and checks.

 

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team of Driving Advisors, Occupational Therapists and Mobility specialists; you will conduct driving and mobility assessments from our Centres. The successful candidate will join an experienced and friendly team to undertake high quality assessments and provide advice and recommendations to disabled and older drivers and passengers and provide comprehensive written reports to our clients and our stakeholders, including the DVLA. You will also provide specialist and independent advice both as part of the assessment process and in response to telephone, electronic and written enquiries.

 

Training and supervision will be provided within the role, including studying for a qualification in Driving and Outdoor Mobility accredited by Oxford Brookes University.

 

A flexible and dynamic approach is required as this is an exciting and expanding field.

 

About You

You will ideally have 3 years experience of working in a clinical or community setting (or mobility Centre) and possess strong initiative and organisational skills with the ability to work accurately and methodically. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to be sensitive and adaptable to the needs of a diverse range of service users.

About the Role

The posts being offered are part-time for up to 30 hours per week over 2-4 days. However, some negotiation on hours, days and locations may be considered for the right candidate.  You will be expected to work most hours in offices including our main Bristol Centre and at an outreach venue however flexibility in your task management is available. Arrangements for hybrid working will be subject to agreement.

FTE Salary range: £28,407 – £35,421 DoE (NHS Band 5 or 6)
